Someone else will be in there and, I don’t think they could do a worse job, that’s the good news; but I hope it’s someone who does a really great job because I think we’re all due for some good, solid, sane and intelligent leadership in this country.”

“I think we [musicians] do what we can and we do it from an inspired place. I can’t help but be inspired when I hear what’s going on. It makes me want to say something. The thing about being a songwriter is you get to say something to a lot of people. To me, that’s a heavy responsibility, so I like to make sure that what I’m singing is really what I do want to say, because I’m doing it every night.”
