“I wrote the song Troubled Times with the trouble in mind we’re all going through today with the war.”

“The really important thing, and it’s going to come to pass, is to get Bush out of office.  Someone else will be in there and, I don’t think they could do a worse job, that’s the good news; but I hope it’s someone who does a really great job because I think we’re all due for some good, solid, sane and intelligent leadership in this country.”

“I think we [musicians] do what we can and we do it from an inspired place.  I can’t help but be inspired when I hear what’s going on.  It makes me want to say something.  The thing about being a songwriter is you get to say something to a lot of people.  To me, that’s a heavy responsibility, so I like to make sure that what I’m singing is really what I do want to say, because I’m doing it every night.”
